Invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, located by Seattle, the sport was created as a way to prevent boredom, It combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong as noted by USA Pickleball. Pickleball can be played both indoors and outdoors on a court that resembles a badminton court. The sport requires a pickleball paddle, constructed from either wood or composite material.
